Money a form of indirect exchange replased barter because of the problems associated with barter as a means of the direct exchange discus the historic development of money?
I have heard tales of ancient Roman wartime, currency was created as it was just to difficult for soldiers to carry around chickens and beans around to swap for what they needed.
Of course, we have all bartered at one time or another. Barter is the one-on-one exchange of a product or service with another country, vendor or person.
In today's economy, I wish that we were all bartering. One could receive solid product that maintained its value, and trade it when wanting something different, rather than depending on the value of paper money that holds a promise of some value in the global community, but is not reliable in today's market.

What would happen to US financial markets if China floated its currency?
What would happen to US financial markets if China floated its currency?
The simple answer is that the Chinese Renmimbi would rise in value against the US dollar, and therefore the US dollar would fall in value against the Renmimbi, firstly because of its massive trade surplus and secondly because of the continuing influx of investment capital to China. However, China buys large amounts of US currency in order to stabilise the value of its currency. By floating the Renmimbi, China would no longer need to do this, cutting off a major source of funding for America's current account deficit. While the United States continues to run a massive current account deficit, one impact of the withdrawal of Chinese funds would be a loss of liquidity in the US economy. As a result, America could either go into recession or print money for domestic circulation, with inflationary consequences.
Another impact, if China immediately ceased US currency purchases, is that the US currency would probably go into free-fall against all other currencies, as the market attempted to find a value at which the US currency would not require Chinese support. The consequences of such a major disruption to the market would be catastrophic. It is important for US financial markets and the US economy generally, that China gradually frees up its currency, allowing the US currency to adapt, and that the United States reduces its trade deficit against the rest of the world.

It's possible to have too much money?
It's possible to have too much money?
Yes. Everyone gets opportunities. If you realize it or materialize it, there is no force in the world to stop you from becoming wealthy.
However, the term "too much money" is relative. Ask a pauper, and he will tell you that he will stop begging if he has too much money. Ask Bill Gates, he would tell you that he will take on Google and expand his search empire to unknown limits.
You have to decide which way to go.

Is Luckordis International a legitimate mail forwarding company?
NO Luckordis International is definitely not legitamate. They will send you electronics to forward but you will not be paid as promised. I would suggest you starting up with them and keeping anything they send you. Otherwise you will be sorry. -I made the mistake of thinking that it was going to happen and it didnt keep everything and do not return their e-mails they will send laptops and digital cameras still in the manufacturers packaging. Whatever you do do not forward the merchandise! This is possibly highly illegal. Answer NO they are not. All merchandise arriving at your HOME is "probably" purchased with a STOLEN credit card. Remember, any investigation will trail right to YOUR front door. You unknowingly repackage this STOLEN merchandise, use your time and gas to take this package to the Post Office and mail to some fat cat in Russia. You will be promised good money, but it will never come. So STAY away from Luckordis. If they contact you because they found your resume on one of the job sites, remember this " RUN FOREST RUN!". Answer NO, NO, NO they are not. As soon as I started complaining about not receiving any pay, they actually contacted a shipper and had the package redelivered somewhere else so I could not keep it. Now of course they wont even answer my e mails. The men involved are OLIVER KAHN and BRUCE BUEL, so BEWARE if you receive info asking if you would like to make money from home, do NOT do it.I suspect now, this is probably illegal, and I am ashamed to say I fell for it.So just to try to make myself feel a little better I contacted the FBI! And guess what, the FBI knows all about LUCKORDIS!!!!! Answer This company in Russia is SO crooked, I even contacted CAREER BUILDRES and told them. That is how I obtain the information. Luckorids found my resume on Career Bullders. B E W A R E !!Career Builders IS investigating.

What is the Difference between accumulated depreciation and depreciation expenses?
What is the Difference between accumulated depreciation and depreciation expenses?
Accumulated depreciation is all of the depreciation ever 'accumulated' against the assets currently in service. It is shown on the balance sheet as a 'contra' (negative) asset, directly below the assets it relates to.
Depreciation expense is the current period's depreciation of the assets currently in service. It is shown on the income (P&L) statement as an expense.
Example:
Business purchased a truck for $20,000 which will last 5 years. For simplicity, we'll use 'straight-line' depreciation.
End of Year One:
Depreciation expense on Income Statement
$4,000 (1/5th of $20,000)
Accumulated Depreciation on balance sheet: $4,000
End of Year Two:
Depreciation expense on Income Statement
$4,000
Accumulated Depreciation on balance sheet: $8,000 (both years)
End of Year Three:

when gaining employment in an organisation, it is the company's duty to inform you of what the procedures are for security and confidentiality.
if you are having any concerns they must be raised to your boss, if there is nothing being done then it could be a HR (Human Resource) issue. as long as you have raised your concerns and made your boss etc aware of it then it is up to them to deal with it as that is not your job.

Would it be useless to double major in Econ-Accounting and Environmental Science. What kind of jobs would you be able to get using both?
If you are hoping to get a job using skills and knowledge from both areas, then absolutely not. But if you are thinking about working in an area using the skills and knowledge from only one of those majors then I would suggest minoring in the unrelated subject because of both cost and work load. You will inevitably learn valuable lessons with either or both majors, so that is really what it comes down to.

What is a gambling marker?
What is a gambling marker?
I'm assuming your talking about taking a marker in the way someone would take a marker at say a table such as blackjack. This is a casino line of credit. You need to set up a credit line with the casino credit office then you can borrow money off that line at the table. You can also deposit cash into the casino bank and draw markers off of that instead of carrying around cash. You just sit at the blackjack table and ask for a marker of say $3,000, the table games supervisor will ask you for your info and print you up a marker, which is basically a check, you will need to sign for it and they will give you $3,000 in casino chips. Then you're free to gamble it all away. Hope this answers your question.

What is a web domain?
What is a web domain?
In the simplest sense, a web domain is a unique name given to refer to a particular collection of resources on the internet, such as www.google.com, or joe@google.com (with "google.com" being the domain in both cases). To delve deeper, think of a domain as a unique address, similar to the numbers on a house. There can only be one "123 Acorn Avenue" in zip code 11111, for example. Similarly, a domain name is an address for a specific website or internet resource. When you type www.google.com in your browser's address bar, you can only be taken to one -- and only one -- website. Now to get nitty gritty -- websites are all hosted (that is, stored) on web servers throughout the world. Each machine has an IP address that identifies that particular machine (think house numbers again). When a website is set up, a domain name is reserved and registered into one of the domain name registrar's databases, and is then usable only by that particular registrant for a set period of time. Once the website is ready to be launched, information is updated with the domain registrar (usually by the person who reserved the domain name) to indicate the name of the web server where the site is being hosted (using the server's IP address). Now whenever the URL is typed into an address bar, the domain name service (DNS) will automatically direct the browser to the web server to server up the correct pages. There are also "subdomains", which can be thought of as suite or apartment numbers (if we want to go back to our house address analogy). Subdomains are often used for sections of a site that provide different functionality. For example, you may have a company site with a URL of www.company.com. Perhaps this company also has an online store. They *could* make a subfolder within their site and have people get to their store by going to, say, www.company.com/store, but they could also set up a subdomain, such as http://store.company.com. Some companies will use subdomains to denote different functions within their site, or perhaps different divisions. Subdomains can also point to different server clusters to provide load balancing across a site if it is a very busy or resource intensive site.

What difficulties might there be in increasing diversity in the workplace?
What difficulties might there be in increasing diversity in the workplace?
There are difficulties in increasing diversity in many ways. For example with small populated companies it is very hard to get a representation of diversity in it especially if it is situated in a not so diverse place. Another way that it may be difficult to increase diversity in the workplace is in financial implications. It may be that an ethnic minority do not go for the job due to the money they would earn not being enough to feed their family. This tends to be a problem with Asian families who are normally said to have the biggest families.

What is the difference between a contribution approach income statement and a traditional approach income statement?
Under the contribution approach (variable costing), all variable expenses (both manufacturing and non-manufacturing) are deducted first from sales to arrive at contribution margin.
Fixed costs (both manufacturing and non manufacturing) are deducted from contribution margin to arrive at net income before taxes.
Under traditional approach (absorption costing), all the manufacturing costs (both fixed and variable) are deducted from sales to arrive at gross profit (margin).
Non-manufacturing (Selling and administrative) costs are then deducted from gross margin to arrive at net income before taxes.

Give me the merits and demerits of privatization?
Give me the merits and demerits of privatization?
OK, very briefly, the merits or advantages of taking a company from state-owned to a private company are that it will force the company to operate efficiently without state subsidies. If it does not do so it will go out of business. It will be forced to compete with other companies and will have to reduce costs.
The big demerit or disadvantage is that the company will no longer operate in the public interest. While a state-owned company primarily serves the citizens of the stae, the primary goal of a privately operated company is to make profit. It may make these profits at the expense of its customers without serving them properly. For example, it may choose the market which is most profitable to operate in and leave lsss wealthy customers without a service.

What is mean by the term management theory jungle?
It was Harold Koontz who introduced the concept of Management Theory Jungle. 'Management Theory Jungle' was made in an environment where the development of management theory had escalated over a period of two decades. This has resulted to confusion and conflict which many theories have entangled in it. As such, it is seen as a jungle.
Koontz defined the management theory jungle by identifying and classifying major management theory. Six schools of thoughts were identified. They included the management process, empirical, human behavior, social system, decision theory and the mathematical school. He said that each school had something to offer to management theory but suggested one should not confuse content with tools. For example, the field of human behavior should not be judged the equivalent of thefield of management, nor should a focus on decision making or mathematics be considered as encompassing the entire area of analysis. Therefore, each of these school would provide insight and methods to aid manager in performing task, hence were tools not school.
Problems occurred when there is a jungle of confusing and conflicting theories. Semantics jungle refers to the definitions of certain words or terms in maintenance. There is a lack of universal recognized definitions in maintenance. Problems in defining management as a body of knowledge which led leads to entanglement as theories in various schools compete to fill the body of knowledge. The misunderstanding of principles through trying to disprove an entire framework when one principle was violated in practice. And lastly, the unwillingness of management theorist to understand each other.

What are the Advantages and Disadvantages of negotiable instruments?
What are the Advantages and Disadvantages of negotiable instruments?
Let me use the example of promissory note where one executes a promissory note as evidence of a promise to pay another person a sum of money at a particular date.
If it says in the terms that it is a negotiable promissory note the lender can sell it to a third party who will assume the responsibility of collecting the money promised by the borrower. It is an advantage because the lender need not wait for the due date to come before he may obtain money. Of course, in order to sell a promissory note, the lender usually sell it at a price that is lower than the maturity value or the money promised. This is to provide incentive for the buyer to buy the instrument at an expected profit. To negotiate it, the lender must endorse it to the buyer or indicate that the lender is transferring his right as collector to another person who is called a "holder in due course". This new lender assumes all the rights of a lender as described in the note. If this new lender needs the money before the maturity of the note, he may sell it to another person and so on and so on.
The disadvantage is if someone finds the promissory note and forges the signature of the lender, and present fraudulent identification papers, he can show himself as if he obtained the instrument properly and has the right to sell the instrument to another and in this regard defraud the true lender.
To obtain the advantages and protect oneself from disadvantages, one has to resort to other measures to prevent fraudulent negotiation.

What is the relationship between price and consumer behavior?
What is the relationship between price and consumer behavior?
Consumers play an important role in determining the demand for a firm'sproducts. They are quality conscious and price sensitive. The success of a product is dependent on the consumers' acceptance of the product.Price sensitive customers like to buy products in small quantities ataffordable prices. For example, Motorola had initially launched sevenmodels of cellular phones at high prices but none of them weresuccessful. On the other hand, Nokia launched a simple cellphone at anaffordable price, which captured the market. Therefore, firms must tryto offer products that are of high quality, at affordable prices. Consumerbehavior is an important determinant of the type of product a firmshould produce. Before launching a product a firm has to take intoconsideration its target customers tastes and preferences. For example, when Dabur Foods launched Real orange juice, consumers rejected itbecause it tasted bitter. Research revealed that Indian consumerswanted juices to be sweeter. Dabur then modified Real's taste bysweetening the orange juice.
Consumer behavior assumes that every individual tries to maximize hissatisfaction by consuming products and service with the limited incomeavailable to him at a particular time. This limited income can also bereferred to as the budget constraint.

If convicted of embezzling do you have to pay taxes on the money stolen?
If convicted of embezzling do you have to pay taxes on the money stolen?
Short Answer: Yes
Longer Answer: You have to pay taxes on the amount embezzled minus any amount that you paid back in that calendar year.
So if you stole $100,000 in 2011, got caught, and paid back $10,000 in 2011...you have $90,000 in taxable income that should be declared on line 21 of your 1040 for the tax year 2011.
In subsequent years, you can deduct any additional restitution that you paid as an expense.

Can an owner of a corporation purposely take money from a corporation so its shareholders receive nothing?
Can an owner of a corporation purposely take money from a corporation so its shareholders receive nothing?
The stockholders ARE the owners of a corporation.
Answer Technically no, because of what the earlier answer says, but it is possible for the board, majority shareholders, or officers to misappropriate the corporate assets to enrich themselves at the expense of the corporation and other shareholders. This is why courts invented the "derivative lawsuit."

What is a calculation that reports net income and then adjusts the net income amount by adding and subtracting items that are necessary to yield net cash provided by operating activities?
What is a calculation that reports net income and then adjusts the net income amount by adding and subtracting items that are necessary to yield net cash provided by operating activities?
Net income is after deducting non-cash expenses such as depreciation and amortization. To determine net cash, these non-cash amounts must be added back:Net cash = Net income + depreciation + amortizationIn preparing financial statements, additional adjustments are necessary to account for changes in receivables, inventories, and payables that have occurred between the beginning and the end of the period in question.
For example, a net decrease in a current asset such as receivables should be added back to net income, or a net increase in receivables should be subtracted from net income, to get net cash. The opposite is true for changes in payables or other current liabilities - add back a net increase in payables, or subtract a net decrease in payables.

Should federal officials who break civil rights laws face discipline?
As a member of the Coalition for Change C4C, an organization that combats racism and retaliation among federal employees, I steadfastly advocate that federal officials who break civil rights laws should face discipline. They should face a higher discipline than those that they oversee. This is a serious issue for these officials are causing rampant upheaval in offices such as the Department of Defense and EPA. I unequivocally agree that officials government officials should face disciplinary actions, mandatory disciplinary actions. Congress and portions of the country are screaming about government spending and waste. Yet they ignore the considerable costs of allowing federal managers to continue to discriminate against federal employees. These managers do so because they know rarely if ever will anything be done to them, that they will not face penalty or be held accountable. This is why it is so incredibly important to strengthen the NO FEAR legislation by adding mandatory penalties to hold Responsible Management Officials (RMOs) accountable. The Coalition For Change (C4C) "Unleash No FEAR" campaign brings this issue to the forefront.

How do you find the selling price when all you have is the number of products sold and the cost of the product?
How do you find the selling price when all you have is the number of products sold and the cost of the product?
You are still missing a peice of the equation. You can find the selling price if you know either the total revenue, profit or the margin (knowing the number of products sold and the cost of the product). For example, if you sold 500 widgets and they cost $1, you still don't know what the selling price is, because it could be sold for anything (including under $1 if you've lost money).

How do you answer the Job Interview question Can you tell us something about yourself?
How do you answer the Job Interview question Can you tell us something about yourself?
This is s a great question and a perfect opportunity for you to really sell yourself. But, you should also be honest.
A person is defined in three ways: (1) who he is right now, (2) what he has done in the past, and (3) what he will become in the future.
So, here is how you answer: (1) I am a [the job title for which you are applying or something very close.] (2) I have [how many years of experience] in [what field, what subject]. (3) I want to be [a job title that is a couple or a few levels above the current position for which you are applying in 5 to 10 years.] I would suggest just briefly going back 5 years but focusing on your most recent experience.
I would advise that you talk positively about yourself but making it relevant to the job you are applying for. Remember that the interviewers are looking for the best person for the job. So they don't want to hear anything bad about you. Tell them about your good points:
* I'm an early bird. I get up every morning and jog before breakfast. * I like finishing tasks. I can't bear putting something down unfinished. I'll stick at it till it's done. * I like other people's company. I get on well with people that I work with. * I'm a cheerful person and I like to smile and keep other people happy. * I like helping people. If someone has a problem I'll do what I can to help.
It is also an opportunity to promote what you are really good at but never mention what you are not so good at or what qualifications/experience you do not have. When I answered that question in a mock interview, I spoke about my last job, why I was making a career move and throw in anything that you did outside of work that contributed to your overall progress in life (such as schooling).

For something like the VALUE of inventory itis very difficult to say what the correct value is. Even it you sayit is the market value -- which market? on what day? Accountingaccuracy is a term used to make seemingly precise numbers seem moreimportant than they really are. Accuracy can mean a good predictorfor some future event. However, most accountants do NOT takeresponsibility for predicting the future ... so it is primarily aby word to make the accounting numbers seem important.
