Who are the Koch brothers?
The Koch family of industrialists and businessmen is most notable for its control of Koch Industries, the second largest privately owned company in the United States. Specifically, the term refers to Charles and David Koch, billionaire co-owners of Koch Industries.
Koch Industries, based in Kansas, is a conglomerate of various companies such as Flint Hill Resources, Invista, Koch Pipeline Company, Koch Chemical technology Group, Koch Minerals, Koch Supply and Trading, Koch Ag and Energy Solutions, Molex Incorporated, and Georgia-Pacific. Koch Industries draws the vast majority of their income from energy and chemicals.
As two of the richest people in the world, the Koch Brothers are openly libertarian-conservative activists, using the income derived from their various corporate efforts to fund right-wing causes and organizations including being key sources of funding of the right-wing infrastructure, including the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), the State Policy Network (SPN), Americans for Prosperity, American Encore, and Freedom Partners.
