How does the application of technology contribute to an organization's efficiency or effectiveness?
this is an AGE OLD question and the answer is - it does not.The fact is that computers are fast, people are not. So they can make whatever process fast but if the actual process is improper or slow or wrong then all you get is more junk faster.As far as other technology is concerned -it now requires additional learning and things are moved from one sphere to another. Inteeruptions via cell phones, AIM, etc. disturbs the human need to concentrate. It makes busy work and not quality work.Computers allow one to make more mistakes more often and a lot faster. Previously one would have to think about a letter before it got typed. Now the words can just flow out and be ready for printing w/o any real thought. :-(
