Why do desposits made afer 2pm take effect the next business day?
If a depsoit is made manually (over the counter) the data is input in to the banks mainframe however, its destination (yours or someone elses account) is usually run as part of a over night backup and data up date process- If the update was run as each deposit was made across the bank local network the system would grind to a halt so its undertaken when the bank is NOT trading to the public
