Why are pennies bad for the economy?

Why are pennies bad for the economy?
The answer is simply the pros outweigh the cons. A penny used to bemade out of pure copper until copper prices increased, then thepennies were made with only about 5-10% copper. As time went on andinflation occurred, the penny lost it's value. Soon, it took lotsof pennies to buy things, so people just started melting them downand selling the copper because at this point the copper itself hadmore value than the penny itself. Now if we lived somewhere civiland smart, the government would have realized the time for thepenny to die was then. But no, the government then made meltingpennies down illegal and people had to stop. Pennies where thenthere to stay, they were used to get exact change as America is apenny pincher. But people didn't realized it has been statisticallyproven and scientifically proven that counting out exact change forpaying or giving change was literally not worth their time. Butpeople still used them anyway. Now lets move to the next part, yousee; the penny actually (With copper prices today) cost about 1.6cents to make a penny, and the government knows this but stillmakes millions every year. This wastes thousands every year andsinks the economy deeper and deeper in trouble. How can this befixed? Simple, even in the USA military, they don't actually usesolid pennies, instead when they used credit its exact change butwhen using cash, they simply round to the nearest 5th and that$19.94 becomes $19.95. Now people argue against removing the pennyfor two main reasons, one is that its disrespectful to removeAbraham Lincoln (Don't call him Abe; he hated it.) from our money. But this is wrong because he is already on the 5$ bill and on theLincoln Memorial. His legacy will always be remembered Lincolnfans. And two, they say people will lose thousands every year asthat $19.97 you owe will become $20.00 and this is true, but itevens out as that $19.92 you owe becomes $19.90, you win some andlose some, also remember 2 Cents is literally not worth your time. And also, many countries including some of the European Union, andmany of the Commonwealth countries have abolished the penny and aresuffering no bad economic backlash. Of course, in the EuropeanUnion it may have been because the Euro penny was centimeters long. But in the end they are bad for the economy because they take morethan they give, its inefficient, and copper is expensive.
