How did Anita Roddick become sucessfull?
Anita Roddick became successful in 1976 because she founded the Body Shop, a british cosmetics company producing and retailing beauty products that have not used animals in any way in the production. It was one of the first to prohibit the use of ingredients tested on animals and one of the first to promote fair trade with third world countries. She was also involved with activism and campaigning for environmental and social issues including involvement with Greenpeace. In 1990 she founded 'Children On The Edge', a charitable organization which helps disadvantaged children in Eastern Europe and Asia. Sadly she was diagnosed in 2004 with Cirrhosis of the liver due to long-standing Hepatitis C. On September 10th 2007 at about 6.30pm she died of a major acute brain haemorrhage after being admitted to ST Richard's Hospital, Chichester the previous evening suffering from a severe headache. Overall in her life she was awarded 18 awards including an OBE and a DBE
