How has Tesco adapted or changed its activities to suit the economic environment?
During the last recession, the British supermarket giant Tescointroduced a new discount range/line to bring in budget-mindedcustomers and to compete with German-based discount grocery storessuch as Aldi. It has continued this strategy as it has struggled tokeep up with changing consumer attitudes against large stores, theadvent of online shopping, and the fact that many people buy theirgoods at multiple stores instead of just one. Another (more recent)strategy the chain has tried is to promote upmarket (expensive)goods in well-to-do areas of the country while promotingvalue-priced goods in areas that are not as well off.
