Do I have to pay storage fees on goods awaiting customs and delivery if no contract signed?

Do I have to pay storage fees on goods awaiting customs and delivery if no contract signed?
Goods were shipped by sea. And handled by maritime company. I was not informed until goods landed that I needed eori number or about any paperwork that needed signing. Then was not told about an apparent 25pounds a day storage for goods. Goods have been stored while ive been trying to get paperwork sorted as fast as possible considering I know notjing of how to do it all. Im already paying 360 pounds in unknown costs. I slso have not signed a contract explaining storage fees.
